We packed our weekender bags, wide brim hats and coffee flask into the car and headed off on a Friday afternoon. Within a few short hours we were driving up the Cardwell Range and into farmland. The clouds seem so much closer up here. The misty rain that starts and stops for most of the weekend gives the air a crisp, fresh, cool feel.
We arrive after a four hour drive, luckily the cottage has a kitchen, so we could prepare some gourmet toasties with fresh produce we picked up from the road side.
We got up early and ventured to Yungaburra markets, browsing stalls and collecting market fresh produce for lunch, plus a few little antiques that we couldn’t resist.
SATURDAY LUNCH TIME
Prepared a ploughmans lunch of market vegetables and homemade bread. We then did some shopping at fixed Abode, and then drove to Atherton Antiques in the afternoon.
We woke up to create a breakfast feast, using the hamper provided by our accommodation. Late morning we tripped to Mungalli Creek Dairy to feed the cows & feast on a cheese platter and cheesecake, before heading home.
