NYE HAIR DIY

ISSUE 3 | DIY

With an Aussie Christmas and New Year comes lots of hot weather! So a quick, easy and messy-but-chic up-do is a must for festive parties. Our fav local salon owner Monique from Tiki on Ackers helped us with this little number. And the best bit is that it’s very forgiving – it doesn’t need to be all neat and perfect to look good (phew!).

Materials:

Teasing comb

Plyable hairspray

Bobby pins

Method:

Step 1: Start off with day-old, unwashed hair. This will give you a better texture and make the hair easier to style.

Step 2: Lightly spray hair all over with a plyable hairspray.

Steps 3-4: Section off a small amount of hair on one side, just behind your ear.

Step 5: Start twisting this section until it wants to curl onto itself.

Step 6: Twist it into a little knot leaving a few pieces out at the end, and secure with a bobby pin.

Steps 7-10: Repeat this process section by section until all of your hair is secured with pins.

Step 11: Spray all of your hair and then give your head a shake to make sure it is secure enough for drinking champagne and dancing on tables!

Note: You could also position the hair in the middle of the head for a more centred up-do.

Now for the dancing on tables…
