hh, Christmas. Don’t you just love this time of the year? Shopping, cooking, list-checking, family gatherings, work functions, more shopping, more cooking. Hmmm. Anyone else get a little bit exhausted at this time of the year?
If you’re finding yourself super busy this year and in danger of just saying ‘stuff it, I’m not having a Christmas gathering this year. I couldn’t be bothered doing all that cooking!’…. we can relate. And we’d like to ask you to consider this little gem…. all hail the pot-luck party.
You provide the venue, some tunes and do a little decorating (it is a party after all) and get your guests to bring everything else. Each guest brings a plate of something to share, their drinks and perhaps even their own chair! Very little effort. Very little expense. Rocking party.
And you get to spend time with your sweet family and friends. Which really, is what Christmas is all about.
For our Confetti Christmas party this year we kept things super simple. We picked a gorgeous tree in Teegan’s back yard, adorned it with old hanging lampshades and lights, put a few trestle tables together and then added pretty market flowers in jars and bottles.
We used a selection of mismatched china plates, bowls, cutlery and wine glasses and let our guests serve themselves.
And of course we made some cardboard Christmas Party hats – because what’s a Christmas Party without hats?…apparently.
Go old-school and send out paper invitations. They really do help to set the mood. Teegan created cute pot-luck, hole punched party invitations which told our guests what they needed to bring (just make sure you know who’s bringing what just in case someone can’t make it and you miss out on dessert!)
